Lead with room tasks
Put room cleaning, bed making, bathroom cleaning, and linen changes near the top of your skills. In your work history, say what kind of rooms or shared areas you handled and how many rooms you usually completed per shift, if you know. Keep the number believable and explain the work clearly; careful checks and reliable handovers matter as much as speed.
Describe safe product use
Name cleaning products or equipment only if you have actually used them, and mention that you follow labels and workplace instructions. List relevant training under a clear heading such as Training or Certificates. Requirements and certificate names vary by employer and country, so do not claim a formal qualification for an informal workplace orientation.
Count informal cleaning work
Cleaning rooms in a guesthouse, helping a family business, or paid home cleaning can show useful experience. Give the work a plain title and describe the tasks honestly; if it was informal, say so when needed. For short jobs, include relevant seasonal or temporary work and dates you can support. A brief gap needs no lengthy explanation.
Keep details easy to scan
Use short bullets and put the most recent relevant work first. Include room counts, linen duties, guest requests, and maintenance concerns you reported when those details are accurate. Leave out unrelated hobbies, personal details employers did not request, and claims about guest satisfaction unless you can explain where the feedback came from.
