Cloud Solutions Architect Resume

This sample shows how a cloud architect can connect platform design to measurable changes in recovery time, provisioning speed, and cloud spend. A strong resume for this role makes scope clear, names the technologies used, and shows how architecture decisions helped teams meet reliability, security, or cost goals.

How to write a Cloud Solutions Architect resume

Lead with architecture scope

Put your current architecture role first, then make its scale easy to scan: cloud provider, account or workload count, regions, and the teams you supported. Show whether you set standards, designed target states, or guided implementation. Keep routine administration details brief unless they demonstrate an architectural decision or a measurable improvement in reliability, security, delivery, or cost.

Connect design to outcomes

Describe the problem, the design choice, and what changed after implementation. Useful measures include recovery time, provisioning time, service availability, migration volume, cloud spend, or audit findings, when you can support them. Give the baseline and timeframe where possible. Avoid claiming savings or reliability gains without a clear way to explain how the figure was measured.

List relevant credentials clearly

Place current cloud certifications in a short certification section and use the issuer’s exact credential name. Include the year earned or renewed if useful, and remove expired credentials unless the employer specifically requests them. Certification requirements vary by role; an architect resume should also show applied design work, since a credential alone does not explain your scope or decisions.

Name tools with context

Include tools that appear in the job posting and that you used in real design or delivery work, such as Terraform, Kubernetes, or a cloud provider’s native services. In experience bullets, explain what the tool enabled rather than presenting a long inventory. Leave out tools you only explored briefly, and avoid listing confidential architecture details, customer names, or sensitive security configurations.

Questions about this role

How long should a Cloud Solutions Architect resume be?

For an experienced architect, two pages is usually a practical target, especially when you need room for architecture scope, outcomes, and relevant certifications. Keep the most recent and relevant work detailed, and summarize older roles. A one-page resume can work for a shorter career, but do not shrink the text or remove context that helps explain your design decisions.

Should I list cloud certifications on my resume?

Yes, list current, relevant certifications with the exact credential name and issuing body, usually in a dedicated section. Include an earned or renewal year when helpful, and check the issuer’s current status rules before describing a credential as active. Employers differ in which providers and certification levels they value, so prioritize those named in the job posting and supported by your experience.

How can I move into cloud architecture from engineering?

Show work that demonstrates architectural responsibility, even if your title was engineer: design proposals, migration plans, infrastructure standards, security decisions, or recovery planning. Explain the scale and tradeoffs, and connect your choices to outcomes. Add relevant cloud training or certifications if they fill a real gap, but do not present a course project as production architecture experience.

Should I include a cloud architecture portfolio?

A portfolio can help when it shows public, sanitized work such as reference diagrams, infrastructure-as-code examples, or technical articles. Link to it near your contact information or in a short projects section, and make sure the material is yours to share. Remove customer names, account details, internal diagrams, secrets, and security configurations. Whether a portfolio is expected depends on the employer and role.
